Per Crucem ad Lucem: a photographic journey through the Holy Week rites of Portugal, Spain, and Italy

04 Maggio 2025

ROME - MOLFETTA

PHOTO EXHIBITION ON RITES OF EASTER BETWEEN ITALY, SPAIN AND PORTUGAL

A project to promote tourism, religion and culture.

A journey through spirituality, tradition, and culture in three nations. The traveling photography exhibition "Per Crucem ad Lucem" captures the evocative imagery of the Holy Week processional rites in Portugal, Spain, and Italy.

Molfetta, Sunday, March 30, 2025 – 6:00 PM. The exhibition will be inaugurated at the Council Hall of the Municipality of Molfetta, in the presence of civil and religious authorities. It will then move to the Sala dei Templari, which will serve as the official exhibition venue.

This remarkable exhibition features the participation of the Portuguese city of Braga and the Spanish municipalities of Bercianos de Aliste, Medina de Rioseco, and Peñafiel, alongside Molfetta, a town in Southern Italy. In 2023, Molfetta officially recognized its Holy Week traditions as an Intangible Heritage of the City, incorporating them into its municipal statutes.

At the same time, the exhibition will be displayed in the enchanting setting of the Church of St. Anthony of the Portuguese, just a short distance from Piazza Navona in Rome, where it will remain open to visitors until April 30, 2025.

Following this, the journey will continue through Braga and the participating Spanish municipalities, further expanding the narrative of a tradition that transcends national borders.

A unique opportunity for those who wish to discover, through photography, the powerful expressiveness and profound significance of Holy Week rituals in the Mediterranean. Free admission

We believe that the time has come to promote this enormous heritage, both tangible and intangible, as part of a shared Mediterranean identity, and to launch an international project that will unite Molfetta and Apulia with Spain, Portugaland other Mediterranean countries, promoting knowledge and new travel experiences.
