The confraternity of Canosa has represented a great comfort for the people. Its purpose was purely charitable, helping the city’s poor in times past. The Confraternities and Archconfraternities active in Canosa were: Arciconfraternita del SS. Sacramento, Arciconfraternita del Purgatorio, Confraternita di San Biagio, Confraternita Maria SS. Del Rosario, Confraternita di S. Gioacchino e Maria SS. Della salute, Confraternita Maria SS. Del Carmine. All the confraternities mentioned are now gone. The entire organization of the processions and rites of the Holy Week are organized by the Parishes and local associations of Canosa.
