The name Pulsano comes from the old tournaments of the healthy wrist (Polso Sano) organized by the noble and rich people through the year, in particular on Easter, during the grape harvest, at Christmas and in the harvest time. Today in summertime these tournaments are still performed with medieval parades and food tasting called “ancient tastes”. The town is located 16 km south-east from Taranto. The history of Pulsano is linked to the Mother Church dedicated to S. Maria La Nova. The celebrations for the Saint Patron’s Day call back to Pulsano thousands pilgrims from all around the world. Pulsano lives off agriculture and tourism. Tourists, interested into natural landscapes, wild beaches and crystalline waters, will found here the best place to enjoy peace and tranquillity. The main cultivations are grapes, olive trees, and wheat. The sea represents the main touristic attraction.
